African Inspired Headwrap with Bright Colored Cloth

So I decided to spice up this TWA a bit with a decorative headwrap. After only a week of wearing short hair, I am already ready for something different. Here are a few pics of the looks that I came up with. Please check out my YouTube channel for videos on both how I tied my headwrap and this makeup look seen in the pictures below. Talk to you all very soon and as always, thanks for your continued support!!!

Why Are We Contouring Our Noses?

I wanted to do a video on this and post to my YouTube channel but I have not been in the mood, so I decided to just write a blog post about it. Today I was watching a YouTube video of a lady doing her makeup. She forgot to contour her nose and she said something to the effect of “I had to go back and contour my nose because this makes your nose look thin and perfect.” Hmmmm….I do not equate a thin nose with being a perfect nose, nor do I equate a thick nose and being a perfect nose. In my mind, the nose you were born with should be your “perfect” nose.

Let me explain further. One of the identifying features of black people are thick facial features…i.e. thick noses & thick lips. That is not to say that some black people do not have thin noses or lips, we do, but a lot of black people have thicker noses and lips in comparison to our Caucasian brothers and sisters. The opposite is true for Caucasian people, their noses and lips tend to be thinner than black people.

So who came up with the idea that a thin nose is a perfect nose? Was it Michael Jackson or someone else? Why are black women all over YouTube contouring their noses so that their nose appears thinner? Is a thin nose the standard of beauty? This is just another example of why we must be careful of the trends we are following. Yes, it is a huge make-up trend right now to contour your face including your nose. I have no problem with contouring your face to bring back the dimension that was lost after applying foundation, but I do have a problem with contouring your nose so that it appears thinner for the sake of having a thin and perfect nose. Personally, I will stick with the nose I have.

Please share any thoughts you may have in the comments, I would love to hear them. Also, if you have not read my post regarding mindlessly following trends, it can be found here: Mindlessly Following Trends

ASP Light-Less Gel Kit

Now that spring it here, I really want to get back into polishing my nails. I have TONS of beautiful nail polishes that have just been sitting for most of the winter because I have not felt like polishing my nails. The maintenance is what really turns me off because even if I use an awesome topcoat, within about three days my nails start to chip. It doesn't help that I am mother and I braid my three daughters' hair, wash dishes, scrub tubs, etc. All are added stress to my nails destroying any pretty manicure I may have done.

Anyway, I have found a solution. This Light-Less Gel Kit from ASP. I used it to do my nails above and it was super easy. Put the gel on and smooth it out, spray it with the gel cure spray, buff it out so that it is smooth, apply your polish and top coat. I did not use the tips that came in the kit because I like to keep my nails short. It is just easier for me to braid hair with short nails. So I am going to give this a go and see how long my polish lasts before it needs to be redone. I really think I am going to love this.

MAC's Diva Lipstick for the Perfect Matte Red Lip

All the talk on YouTube about MAC’s Ruby Woo lipstick says that is the perfect red, that is looks good on every skin tone, and that you cannot find a more perfect matte red lipstick.

I beg to differ, lol. I went to the MAC store last week and picked up MAC’s Diva lipstick. Oh my goodness! Now for me this is ten times better than Ruby Woo. And yes, I own and have worn Ruby Woo.  Diva is a deeper red and to me it is more flattering on medium to deep brown skin. Of course, I am not in the majority with my opinion on this one but if you have tried Ruby Woo and just felt like it was “okay,” try Diva.

I am going to be doing a makeup haul on my YouTube channel very soon where I will feature this lipstick. Look out for that video :)

Make-up Look 1 | Cute and Casual

Hello Everyone!

Check out my first make-up look I recorded. I realized that recording yourself putting on make-up is a lot harder than it looks, lol. I think it turned out okay and will be doing more looks in the future. Thanks for watching!
